Mike Walford is an author, journalist, former trade union activist for Unison and now is currently  their  Retired Unison  Members Officer for Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

Also, he is the Executive Director and President to Cornwall Folk Festival after running the festival for the past 9 years now having handed  over the reins to Lynette Rentoul as its Artistic Director in 2017. Mike has been long involved with folk , blues and jazz clubs for several decades now and was a close friend to Cliff Aungier, Gerry Lockran and Long John Baldry, but was never , ever the performer until Cliff persuaded Mike to do otherwise! 

Born in the" Shack " in North Baddesley during the second world war , his grandfather was a former lumberjack who volunteered to join the Canadian Volunteer Force 28th Battallion where he sustained two lots oflife threatening  injuries between 1915- 1917, he never returned to Canada after meeting Ethel Hensford whom he married and they built the Shack between them on a parcel of land they acquired where they grew their own produce and reared livestock.Mike was musically influenced to this day by his parents and grandparents with their love of old time American Music.  Mike's debut album of some 17 tracks entitled " FOOTPRINTS SHORELINES HIGHWAYS" are mainly a collection of his own songs written in Cornwall, whilst at sea  as a merchant seaman or later as a litho  journeyman colour printer over the past few decades and the album is  on sale at £7.95 ( including postage ) and £2 on each album sale will be donated to the RNLI ( an organisation very close to Mike's heart ).
